Meet DWTEK adviser – Colin Selfe

Was an engineer for TV chassis, then joined Soundcraft and made a big deal by shortening the test time of consoles from 3 days to 20 minutes, introducing an ATE test strategy to the company, and turning the turnover from £8 million to £50 million.  

A few remarkable achievements after he left companies as a mechanical engineer, included improving the RMA (Return to Manufacturing Authorization) procedure and repairing returned equipment to the component level. His capabilities and skills promoted him to a Director, in charge of not only UK, but also the China region. 

Set foot in the underwater territories in 2005, as the Test and Commission supervisor of Seaeye ROV and its systems, then joined Fugro in 2008 as an ROV supervisor for testing and system implementation. He experienced more than 1,000 hours of maritime tasks by controlling ROVs to support Korea, the UK, Norway, and Taiwan offshore projects. 

Not only does the ROV goo roo Colin take his expertise and knowledge to support the offshore wind sector from project to project, but DWTEK is pleased to have him as the adviser and trainer, he passed his wisdom to the 10 Taiwanese ROV pilots, and now the trainees are all 40-hours-ROV-flying-qualified pilots (trained according to the IMCA R002 guideline). With more than 18 years of rich and excellent ROV maritime experience, Colin is still active in the offshore business, recently he is with us in our latest Summer offshore projects for the maintenance of the offshore wind farms in Taiwan Strait.
