Fly Safer with DWTEK - Thruster with Self-Protection Capability

Thruster plays an important role as car tires for providing ROV with a powerful force to move toward underwater.


Therefore, most clients would see a high durability and CW/CCW as their key factors when they purchase a thruster. However, have you ever heard of a function called "self-protection capability?" What are the benefits of thrusters? Let's take a look of DWTEK thruster as an example.

1. Over-heat and over-current protection

While facing a strong current underwater, ROV thrusters need to drive more power to move toward. However, the stronger power generates a motor to overheat, causing thrusters to burn out and stop flying at a sudden. All DWTEK's thrusters are capable of overheating and over-current diagnosis, which makes the thruster aware that it doesn’t feel well and purpose a solution to protect itself.

For example, facing a condition of overheating, DWTEK's thruster will automatically lower a revolution of propellers to avert a motor to constant overheating. After recovering from it, DWTEK's thruster will raise the revolution again, and back to normal operation. It is like a human immune system, as the virus attacks the body, our immunity would start detecting and activating our cells to protect us to prevent a greater outcome.

 

2. Internal isolation between the power and signal power supply system

Besides over-heat and over-current protection, considering a safer mechanism design, DWTEK also designs our thrusters with an isolated system between the power and signal supply which is a protection to avoid both power and signal supply being out of working at a time. For instance, facing a short circuit, DWTEK thrusters can normally operate signal transmission because of the isolated design, allowing a ROV operator to take action by being notified that a power transmission is abnormal.
